Applications are invited for the appointment of a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A) in the Research Centre of Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI) within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNSW Sydney.
The applicant will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the Distributed Sensing Systems Group in CSIRO (additional project information available here). The position is available immediately as a one-year contract with the possibility of an additional year extension.
The applicant will be expected to undertake and develop research on the topic of emerging infectious diseases, with a focus on the development of models for outbreak prediction, risk assessment, and optimizing resource allocation. Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, statistical modelling, network modelling, data visualization, and ecological modelling. Previous experience working on epidemiological applications is highly desired; applicants with experience in modelling vector-borne diseases will be prioritized. A high level of interpersonal, written and oral communication skills (in English) is also required.
